This is a concept character design for the Fae (fairy)/Elven race within my fantasy world.
The Handsome character's face is ‘mostly’ human in visage although the character would have pigmented skin colour, not necessarily bright ‘cartoonish’ colours but those of nature, maybe the colour rose petals etc. About the crown of his head and chin protrude the inhuman growth of leaves.
About the body are woads/Celtic Glyphs & Marks that are not painted on, but impressions or raised scares in the body that help channel natural ‘magic’ not too dissimilar to the grooves in bark. As the elf grows older the deeper they become.
The shoulder harness would be carved out of solid wood following natural curves and knots, held down by its own weight at the back and kept enclosed by beads and decoration in the front, as illustrated.
The idea is nature and the natural world, as the elves do not use or utilise ‘MADE’ objects/things. This is due mainly for character concept, them being a deeply magical and natural race they are ‘allergic’ to created or man-made objects.
The design was inspired from a variety of other concepts - a mixture of stone age, native American, Celtic and the ‘Foresworn’ look from Bethesda’s The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. The character is woven with animal furs & pelts, leather thonging and dried grass & leaves, all tightly bound along the body to grant a make-shift camouflage and savage intimidation of the woodland fae folk.
